HELP.. 19.5' 1993 Ranger 150hp + tower = wakeboard boat?

Question:
Hi all, I'm stuck on the classic fence. Family of 4 kids 12-1yr, live on a shallow river 30mile of navigable water, need a boat that I can go fishing from, water skiing, and wakeboarding. Not sure whether to get a used ski boat and add tower and trolling motor, or get a used bass boat and add a tower and weight bags..

At the end of the day, two primary issues. 1) To reach some areas, I need to be able to tilt my motor way up (no inboard for me). 2) I want to have 1/2 a chance at doing big air and flips off the back.

So... Can I simply add a tower and some of those weight bags to a ranger outboard and call it a day?

Answer:
I think you'll find that a typical flat bottom bass boat in the Ranger mold will not have the weight handling capacity and freeboard nor hull shape to make a decent boarding wake. And the lack of tracking fins will get it yanked around all over the place. I'd be surprised if you'll find a stock tower that will fit and even the universal ones are likely to be too low.
