sailboat trailer modification

Question:
I've got a Kittiwake 24. 7.5' beam and a 2' 10" draft. ANybody had much success converting a power boat trailer to a sail trailer. Any info is appreciated.

Answer:
THe base frame is basically the same. You would have to start with a bunk trailer with keel rollers. The bunk mounts need to be changed to raise them meeting the hull. They also need to be stabilized so to take side loads. I modified one for my tug that has a similar keel by adding short pipes taking boat stand screw jacks. If placed correctly this method can substitute using raised bunks. You would need min four jacks but six would be better. The stem needs to be imobilized into the winch stand that is modified to meet the stem. You have to realize the center of gravity is higher so cornering is tricky as is any other quick maneuvers.
