Question:
I just broke down and bought a new 22' Lowe pontoon. Anyone have any
sugestions on trolling motors for this huge barge? Now that I broke down and
bought it, I'm down and BROKE.
Answer:
- In my estimation, there are only two manufacturers of trolling motors that
are worth the money. I currently run a PinPoint 3700 and it's great!!
Pricey but great. Gobs of power and long life on the batteries. The other
brand is MinnKota. Get a bow mount, 24 volt system, with a pontoon boat, a
12 volt system won't last very long.
But that's just my opinion,
- I would also recommend that you get
nothing less than 60 pounds of thrust. Unless MotorGuide has changed
drastically, when I was running them, I couldn't get more than one season
out of them before they self destructed.
