Question:
Weekend boats for rent on Lake Havasu?
I'm planing a three week trip to the US in june. I'm flying (from
Amsterdam) into Arizona.I thought it would be nice to
spend a couple of days out of this trip on a rental weekend boat on one
of the beautifull lakes in that general area. Do you know of places in
the mid/western part of the US where one can rent a nice boat at a
reasonable price for a couple of days and just enjoy? Please let me know
if you do.
Answer:
- There are day boat rentals and house boat rentals at Lake Mead. The house
boats are generally large though there are some smaller ones available and
get pricey after labor day. Note also that Lake Mead is hot even in June -
often with a high of 110 or 115 F.
The house boats basically have to have air conditioning to be livable so a
generator is standard.
Generally available midweek cheaper than on the weekend. Try searching on
Lake Mead boat rentals or similar.
Day boats are also available at Lake Mead marinas.
- All have house boats, but you usually have to reserve a year in advance -
summer rates for a 55ft house boat on Shasta last we went there were over
$4000 per week I think...
A Ski Boat (19ft inboard competition boat) ran about $900 for a few days to
rent - something like 400/day...
There are perhaps 5-8 houseboat rentals on lake Shasta. Last I checked, all
of lake Powell house boat rentals are owned by Del Webb (major real estate
developer in that part of the world), so competitive pricing is
non-existent. Havasu and Mead also appear to have limited vendors...
If you have enough people to split the boat for a week, you better reserve
now for summer 2001...
