Am considering a Hunter sail boat. My first experience with sail. Any recommendations/cautions/advise, etc.?

- Hire a professional surveyor.

- I too at one time considered a Hunter as a first boat and as a 2nd boat. I think you get alot of boat for your money but as a first boat I would first determine where I am going to sail it. If it is inland waters I would look at something like a 19 foot boat. Check out Flying Scots. It is an older design but is also a one design class. (Means that if you race against another one both boats are usually equal) It is trailerable too. People who I know that have older Hunters usually complain about quality issues. New boats may be better. Best suggestion is join a local sail club that has races and cruises. Offer to help and you will be sailing in no time at all. You can try a lot of boats and then make your decision on what is best for the area you are going to use it.
