Question:
Florida boat rental?
Anybody know where I can rent a half-decent 16-20 foot fishing boat -
for a reasonable cost - in the Jupiter/Palm Beach area to fish the
Intracoastal? Club Nautico is too expensive. One other I found had a
really beat-up old tub for $90 per day. There must be something better
than this?
Answer:
- What do you consider reasonable? In NE Florida, you can rent a 16' Carolina
Skiff with a 20-25 hp engine, both in "new" condition, for $75 a day plus gas. I
don't think I'd zip through Jupiter Inlet in it.
- Unless you already know the area, I would recommend that you hire a
guide rather than just a boat. It is not that much more and you get to
do a whole lot more fishing. Most of the rental boats I have seen
along the ICW are for tourists who want to just spend an hour or two
on the water.
