Does anyone know how to go about buying a fishing boat out of Houston
or New Orleans?
Answer:
-If you are prepared to travel to Europe, a lot of small(30ft) to not so
small (100ft)Atlantic and North Sea commercial fishing boats are up for
sale if they are removed from european fishing waters otherwise they are
to be distroyed. This is due to fishing quotas having been reduced
sharply around here.
-As always, local knowledge is everything. You could look in National
Fisherman if it is available in your area. If that doesn't work, try
calling yacht brokers in those areas and ask them who handles sales of
that kind of boat. Even if they don't, they will know who will.
-Check out an issue of "National Fisherman" magazine. They always have listings
of several brokers who sell commercial boats as well as a classifieds section.
