Columbia Sail Boat

Question:
I would like to know if anyone can provide information on Columbia Boats? I would like to purchase a manual and any other documentation for a 22' fixed keel Columbia

Answer:
-Columbia Yachts began as one of the first big time builders of fiberglass boats. My father had one, a Payne designed Columbia 23.

The Columbia 22 was designed by William Tripp, the father of the present-day race boat designer Bill Tripp. He lives/works on Long Island, NY, I believe. I don't have his address handy, but I would start by asking him what information he has.

They must have built a bunch of 22's; one still sees them out and about.

-Don't know much, except that I grind winches on a Columbia 38, built in 1968.

Corisan is a tough boat, and faster than she looks. ;-). Having a skipper who's had the boat for 20 years, and who's wilier than a fox helps, too.

I do know that the Dashew's first round-the-world boat was a Columbia 50(?) from about the same year. Cruising World raves about *that* boat as one of the best ways to see the world on the cheap...

-What do you want to know about Columbia's?? I own a 1966 Columbia 26' ("Desiderata"). I love the boat, she's built well, sails well and looks great for her age.
