Question:
Has anyone got any recommendations on private charter fishing boats in Aruba.
Any info on who's good and who to stay away from would help us out.
Answer:
-I'm not a real avid fisherman but our group of six had a terrific time a
couple of years ago using the Driftwoood restaurant's charter boat. They
charged US40/person with up to 6 on board. They boat seemedto be well
maintained and the crew (2) knew what they were doing. They neat part of
the charter is that the Driftwood will prepare your catch for you in the
evening.
We went out from 8am to 12pm, it was not a real good fishing day the water
was very calm and still. We caught about 8 Mahi-mahi. My wife caught a 4ft
Sailfish( which we released) - check out www.primenet.com/~csenft for a
picture. We got a strike from a wahoo but they are hard to hook.
After we returned to dock, the crew filleted the fish. We opted for the
restaurant preparation so we arranged to be at the Driftwood at 7 that
night. We brought more friends with us (total of 12). Driftwood charged us
US10 for preparation and sidedishes. They prepared the mahi-mahi four
different wayys and served it family style.
-Also check out "Rainbow Runner" at www.rainbowseekers.com" for a family
operated boat.
