Question:
I'm looking for a new 15-16' fishing boat this year, and am considering the
Tracker boat from Bass Pro. There is a Pro Guide 16 and a Super Guide 15
that seem to meet my needs, does anyone have experience with these models?
The motor for both would be a 40 hp Mercury 4-stroke, which is a $1750
upgrade over the 40 hp 2-stroke.
Answer:
-I've owned the Pro Guide 16....put at least a 50 on it. 90 if you can
afford it. Great boat. I traded it in on a 19ft Carolina Skiff with a
90hp Honda. Had the Tracker for over 4 years and never had a problem.
- I ended up with a Pro Deep V-16 w/ 50hp Mercury
4-stroke. The consensus seemed to be that Tracker's are a solid boat with
few problems. I've heard that several years ago there were issues with hull
integrity. One of those things where people say "well, I never had a
problem, but I've heard others did". The Pro Deep is about 3" bigger in the
beam compared to the Pro Guide and a bit heavier. The hull is rated for 60
hp max. I sure hope the 50 is enough, the 60 4-stroke is another $600.
