lubricant for bass boat seats

Question:
Can someone advise me on a lubricant I can apply to my pedestals for my raised seat on my bass boat. Every time we move you can hear us all over the lake

Answer:
- When it comes to boating big Bass, for this thread I'll say over 5 lb.s,and talking strickly catch and release, what would you suggest as being best for the bass:

- I suppose a lot of people will recommend WD-40, and I will admit it is great for most things. But in a boat, you might be better off getting a tube of graphite. WD-40 mostly comes in spray cans, and the stuff is a pollutant in the water. Plus, grease and/or oil will get dirty eventually and will have to be cleaned. The graphite doesn't attract dirt particles like oil does. It will probably depend on how your boat is configured. Some might be OK with the WD-40, and some might get the graphite all over the place. But the two mentioned above will give you at least two options.

-Anyhow, about noisy pedestals, I have noticed mine were a bit noisy and seemed to be wobbly. Was on someone else's boat last weekend, and wanted to remove the rear seat so I would have more standing room. Tried to do it the way I do on my boat (front or back) by just lifting the seat and rod at one time. It was then I learned that the rod that 'slips' into the base is supposed to be screwed out. When I got home I checked the rod on both of my pedestals. Sure enough, neither had threads to screw into the base.
