Question:
I'm ready to take the plunge to purchase a new First Made Bass boat. I'm
looking at the Javalin 400SDC with a 225hp... does anybody have an opinion on
the Javelins and that particular model. They are really the only Bass boats
sold in our area, other than Rangers. So I don't have much of a chance
to see boats such as Skeeters, Stratos etc...how does the Javelins
compare to these? I heard the Javlins have the fastest hulls...any
comments?
Answer:
-Javelins make a real nice boat and compares favorably with Skeeters,
Winners .... the people I've known with Javelins really liked them ... as
opposed to the people I've known that owned Stratos--- seems like Stratos
has lost a LOT of its quality it had in earlier years. Personally, I
prefer Gambler, seeing as I took out a mortgage and sold my firstborn to
get one.
-Here in south Florida there is a trend that started a few years back of
using flats boats for bass boats. Most new buyers opt for a flats rig
due to several reasons. The boat has several advantages over traditional
bass designs.
1. self bailing cockpits
2. walk around gunnels
3. flush nonskid decks (no carpeting)
4. no wood construction (most)
5. heavy duty construction (made for salt water enviroment)
6. center console
7. polling platform
8. shallow water capability
I personally like the looks better as well. Never liked a sparkel finish
on any boat.
Of all the boats I've seen the Scout 192 would be my choice.
